No, I've never been on a missions trip, I've always wanted to though. I'm going this summer though!!!! I'm SO excited. We're going to Atlanta, apparently it's the 25th most dangerous city in the nation, sounds fun huh?

I went to the East Coast

With my Master's Commission team we did a week long trip. We traveled all over the North East Coast doing stuff from kid's ministry, to park outreaches, lots of stuff... it changes your outlook on a lot of things...

I think everyone should go on local missions trips, but also at least one foreign missions trip! Youth Alive partners with Ambassadors in Missions. If you are ever looking for some Missions Trips options make sure you check them out!

Atlanta sounds awesome, especially since it's your first. You will learn so much in the natural and in the spirit. Let me know how it goes!

I live 25 minutes away from detroit so I'd love to hear more about it!

Africa was amazing; one of the best things that has ever happened to me except for Jesus =] We stayed at Heidi Baker's orphange in Pemba.
We ate bread in the morning and rice (with beans, spinach, or accasionally chicken) for lunch & dinner, unless we went to a resturant in town.
We helped in the kitchen, give bible & english lessons to the orphans, traveled to villages in "the bush" they call it and just spent time loving on kids with coloring, making bead necklaces, painting nails, and they LOVE soccer! We did construction like fix the horses fence 3 times lol!
When we traveled, we would go to villages where the people had never even heard of Jesus and they would have 2-3 translaters and share the gospel and testimonies in the back of a truck with some spotlights!
We prayed and Jesus'power broke down curses that the witch docters placed on some children in the villages. And many of us got baptized in the Indian Ocean with some christians who converted from being muslim. They even were disowned by their family and had complete faith that God would take care of them.
I learned what it was like to have real faith. The children have to rely on Jesus to literally bring their next meal; if they don't have faith, they don't have any hope.
Sorry, I rambled forever. I could go on for days lol.

Going on a missions trip is one of the best things you can do to increase your faith. If it's not your thing, that's the best reason to go because being placed out of your comfort zone pushes you to really trust in God.

And if finances are the only reason keeping you from going on a missions trip--If it's God's will, he will always provide a way. I did not have ANY money to go to Africa. I'm the kid from the other side of the tracks if you know what I mean lol. I went completely on faith. 2/3 of my trip was paid for! and I fundraised and worked for the rest. God is real, living, and active =]

I've talked way too much, haha.
Hope to here from all of you soon!

When I went we went into the slums /i saw houses with chunks taking out of it and I really learned about peoples hearts. One quick testimony was when my pastor was inviting people to the kids carnival the person asked if he was the pastor he said no and pointed to Pastor Norflette who was dressed in blue jeans and a white T-Shirt the person stared...

After a couple seconds the person looks up and says that man looks like Jesus. He looked like them

no suit

no tie

all heart

There were over a dozen people who gave their life to the lord. And there 15-20 member congregation doubled!!! We are still sending support for this church God really blessed us with a man so on fire for God.

Last March, I had taken a missions trip to a place called Mission of Hope, in Haiti. The children there were the most beautiful children I have ever seen. My profile picture is one that was taken in Haiti. He was one of the orphans at MOH.
We helped pour the foundation of what was to become an orphan house, where MOH will take in 240 more children (they already had around 60) and they will teach these kids how to survive. Each "family" of 6 kids, along with their "mommy" will learn how to grow their own food and raise their own goats and chickens. they will later go on to a trade school where they can learn skills that can will carry them into the workplace.
We also went to other orphanages in the area and ministered to them. I don't have time to list all the other things that we did, but it is an experience that I will never forget.
I hope to some day go back.
